Vegetable Glycerine, also known as Glycerol, is an organic compound produced industrially from vegetable
oil. It has a syrup-like consistency and dissolves easily in water.
Vegetable Glycerin has a sweet taste and fewer calories than sugar making it very popular in the food industry and as a sugar substitute.
In the body, it is metabolised more slowly than sugar meaning it does not have quite such an effect on blood sugar levels making it safe for diabetics and people with candida overgrowth. Nor does it contribute to tooth decay.
Glycerine is commonly used in the home as a low G.I sweetener for baking.
