A Psyllium Husk doesn't sound like something you'd want to put in your mouth but then neither does colloidal silver but the benefits of both, while markedly different, are tried and tested.
Psyllium Husks are portions of the seeds of the Plantago ovata plant, a native of India and surrounding areas.
They are hygroscopic (able to attract and hold water) which enables them to expand and become mucilaginous.
Psyllium Husks themselves are indigestible, their inert bulk helping to provide a constant volume of solid material through the gut. In this respect, they are used to relieve constipation, irritable bowel syndrome, and diarrhoea. They can also be used as a regular dietary supplement to improve and maintain regular gastro-intestinal transit.
It has also been established that soluble fibre intake brings with it the benefit of a decreased risk of coronary heart disease as soluble fibre can help manage cholesterol levels.
Another use for Psyllium Husks is in gluten-free baking. Ground husks bind moisture and help make breads less crumbly.
As a food supplement add 1-2g of Psyllium to 300-400ml of purified water or fruit juice and stir vigorously. Drink the mixture immediately. Take 1-3 times daily or as directed by your healthcare professional. Ensure you drink plenty of additional fluids while taking this supplement.
Organic whole psyllium. Contains no additives.
